Kat Von D Spellbinding Review

Starters...I love Kat. I think she's awesome. PERIOD. She has an amazing talent when it comes to art...and now her makeup collection. HOLY CRAP!

Recently, Ami got the new Spellbinding Eye Shadow Palette from Kat Von D and was awesome enough to let me do swatches and a review. She knew that I would not be disappointed with this (and I'm the one that introduced her to Sephora. ;) ). Boy, was she right!

Once you open up the cardboard box, the packaging is pretty much the same cover-lovely artwork to show case Kat's amazing talents. It's very simple in the black and grey, and very deceitful for what lays under.

Once you open it up, by flipping the lip, you see the clear plastic covering with all the same over the colors. For me, this is super helpful since...most of the things I use happens to not have any names. Haha. :) Anyways...this is also the only thing that I didn't like about this palette. Because every time I went to use a color I needed to flip it back over and hold it there while I loaded up my brush.

I did like that once you opened it up, on the inside of the lid are three simple eye looks and details on how to create them. Ami had already tried this out with the Babe and Piaf colors and really like that. Me, however, I like to think outside of the box! ;)

When I started swatching the colors, I noticed how creamy and velvety smooth they were. Not to mention the high amounts of pigment they all held. My only issues are the ones that are close to my skin tone and therefore, not showing up as well.

As you'll notice with the pictures of the swatched colors, my photographing skills improved! (Ha! I am getting better and learning as I go! :P )

Dark Throne   and   Precious
Sunset Blvd     and     8 Bit
Holy Bible     and    Oddfellow
Instaglam    and    Stupid Autocorrect

After this picture I realized that my flash was washing the colors out and you weren't able to get the full effect, so I turned it off. The lights in my "office"/guest room (where filming takes place) are more like...sun effect light blubs (because some of us-me-have seasonal depression...so sorry about the yellow tint!
Smile Now    and   Cry Later
Queen     and     Bukowski
Queen has the duocrome effect of bukowski in it. Which totally surprised me! I was expecting a mud like brown but discovered this...and yes! Bukowski...I want to be this color. That is all.
Babe      and     Piaf
Babe looked to be just another, run of the mill, purple....but then I seen the flakes of blue tint. The light and camera do this NO justice!
Geek   and   Fallen
Birdcage    and    Gunner
Galore    and    Hexogram
Anarchy     and    Wonderland
Countess   and    WTF

On the Countess, I have it swatched and then right next to it swatched on a white base. It is the only one that has any base underneath...everything else, one time with a finger.

I really love this palette! In fact, have already gone shopping and was sad to hear that the Sephora in my area was completely sold out! :( I know that once they get it back in stock...I begging my husband for some spending money. Haha! xD

I do want to thank Ami for letting me borrow her makeup for the day and letting me use it to review it as well as make a tutorial!
