Loot! Oh wait....I mean, Haul! Okay...keep in mind that 90% of the time, I'm broke. Broke because I have bills, like student loans, house note, car note, cell phone, etc... to pay for. Plus a husband to feed! So, very rarely do I get a chance to go out and buy new stuff, unless A. It's cheap or B. It's on sale or C. I got a pay raise (which hasn't happened in over a year now).
So...I managed to pick up these three things not long ago, two of which I got at the drug store/super market/ whatever you want to call that place (like Walgreens or Kroger), and one I got a Sephora. Now, keep in mind that when I was growing up that I only had places like Wal Mart, no just that ONE place, to go to pick up makeup because the mall is almost an hour and a half away! That's too long of a drive to go and pick up a thing of foundation and that be all. We made special trips to the mall, all of which were mainly for prom. And internet shopping for makeup was, and in my opinion still is, scary! Half the time you're never sure of what you might get and how well the product might be unless you've tested or have other things by that company (Not to mention they only recently-the last two years- built the Ulta, and the last handful of months added the Sephora in JCP).
It wasn't until I had moved out and away (which happens to be closer to the mall) that I was able to start going to buy awesome makeup things! So, sometimes it's really hard not to walk down the makeup isle at said store-of-whatever-name-you-like-calling-it and see all the familiar brands. Yes, I know that not all of them are good, but sometimes they do come out with the rare gem!
Recently with all the new Hunger Games stuff getting released by CoverGirl, it makes me REALLY want to go out and test all of their stuff.
..my funds scream not to but my inner beauty person screams other wise. So I compromised and bought a new thing of mascara. Because, let's be honest...who doesn't wear that stuff?! Even if you own next to nothing when it comes to makeup, you will still own a tube of mascara! So, I purchased the new CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara. Price wise, it was a little more expensive compared to their other mascaras. And recently I've been going to Rimmel's mascara which is usually 2-3 dollars more than CoverGirl's. Right now, this is by far....THE BEST MASCARA! It is my favorite!
As far as the packaging, I really dig it. I like the colors and thing that the flames on it match nicely to the name. It's got a giant tube opening for the weird by awesome shaped wand. When I first pulled it out and looked at it, I thought there would be NO way for this to do what I was wanting it to. Boy, I was wrong!
Yes, those are my own lashes. Not fake ones. But my real ones. I promise! And they look amazing!
Now onto my other find. Revlon's 24 Hour COLORSTAY. Since I've ran out of foundation primer and had ran out of my Urban Decay Naked Foundation, and being slightly fund restricted, I thought I'd give this a go. All in all, it's alright for Revlon. I'm neither over the fence with this nor am I really bummed that I bought a cheap foundation.
With the said, here are my pros and cons. Pros: I do like the fact that by the end of the day I'm not orange. It does do a rather nice job of keeping the same tone all day long. I also like the fact that it doesn't feel too heavy on my face. Cons: It smells weird. Like, it was trying for a flora scent, but to me...it went horribly wrong! The formula is extremely thick! Don't get me wrong, it's not heavy on your face, but when it comes out of the container, it's gloopy and thick!
But like I said, I can't really complain, it does have good coverage, it's reasonably priced...If I were to go from a scale of 1-10, I might give it a 6 for coverage, price, and the feeling on my face.
Last but, for sure not least! I splurged... I went to Sephora and bought myself a tube of OCC's Lip Tar. Now, when I went in there the first time, I used a tester and managed to put it on top of a color I already had on that was fading. And because of this....my lips peeled badly! I thought that maybe it was the Lip Tar itself, because it wasn't a primer that was under it...but it didn't matter because I loved the color! This is a color that I should have had....ten years ago!
With me and my love of pin up, yeah, I not only wanted to have this for my ever growing (slowly) collection, but it was a MUST HAVE! I've put on a primer before this, and had no problems with it coming off...and I've also used it with out. Either way, I've not had a problem (outside of the first) with it wearing off by the end of the day. Then again, I also apply it right before I head into work, so it has a chance to dry before I eat or seriously drink anything (water out of a water bottle doesn't really count in my book). This was my most expensive lip color I've ever bought, and I'm seriously thinking about adding more! I now see why people love these things. And I'm the type of person that yes, I belive that you like this...but I have to try it out for myself. Mainly because everyone is different. With this, I 100% jumped on the band wagon!
Here is the look I did for the whole day. Sorry about the picture, I took it right before I jumped out of the car and headed into work....where I proceeded to get dirty...or I would have done an after an all day picture.
Well, I hope you all enjoyed my awesome chatty-ness on these loot items...Dang it! I mean Haul! :)
