What am I about?

I just realized that...for most people, they don't understand the "where am I coming from" or "What is this blog about"? So, I'm here to actually address those issues.

For starters, I'm female. AHAHAHA...I'm a joker! There are times when I think that I'm funny, and actually crack myself up. It could be the blonde in me, but...Yeah. And I really am blonde. Sometimes moments stand out harder than other. I'm also smart, S-M-R-T, Smart! ;)

Okay, Okay...enough with the personality stuff... Onto more! More of, why did I start my own channel on YouTube, and why I wanted to become in the public eye. :)

To begin with-why did I create my own channel. Let's back that up as to how I even got started with the whole makeup thing! In my other blog, "Preparations", I was gathering all kinds of neat wedding stuff and ideas...when I thought of, save even more money and just do my own makeup! I was totally ingenious! So, after posting in the blogs (while I was at my current job and doing actually nothing but staring at a pair of glass doors), I started surfing YouTube for videos...that's when I came across xsparkage. This girl was completely...and just...AH!

I watched her videos on how she did stuff...and it was almost as if she was your friend when she was doing tutorials. Her color choices were amazing, and I thought I could NEVER do that (at that time). But it helped open my eyes to see that, makeup isn't just to enhance beauty...but it can be fun and bright! So, with limited funds, I started buying more daring eye shadows...and it didn't help that we just moved to a place that actually had an Ulta and not one that was 45 minutes away! So, I have major thanks to give to Leesha

Well, once I got started doing my own thing with bright colors and testing different looks out on my own...I was getting more and more compliments. And after a change of jobs and a pay cut, I suddenly had less time and less money to spend on extra stuff...I was still paying for a wedding, mind you. However, that didn't stop me! With the little stuff I had, I was able to create some pretty and amazing looks. The girls I worked with thought that I had this HUGE room full of makeup, when in reality I only had very little to work with. Thank goodness for Nyx!

After the wedding and a few change of hands at work, I met the most awesome person ever, Mia! After we started working together, she showed me some of her pictures and come to find out, she models. Most of her shoots, there wasn't really a makeup person on site, and she did most, if not all, of her looks by herself. She kept saying that she wanted me to do her up on day for a shoot (which still hasn't happened, but only because both of us are extremely busy and most of her shoots happen out of town at last minute notices). When Halloween came about, she had me do her makeup. She wanted to go as Nicki Minaj...Alright...challenge excepted! I googled and looked up several looks, created one for her...and she loved it! I did so well, she went to a second party a few days later and had me do it again.

The whole time that we worked together, she kept mentioning that I should start my own channel. That I should teach others how I do certain looks. And anyone that knows me, knows that I need loads of convincing and coaxing into actually doing something like this.

Right before Thanksgiving (yes, I'm giving the long version of events because I'm wordy) I switched shops. All of these people I now work with have been working with my husband for the last two years, so I already knew them all. After several different looks, I get asked again to do a channel, and teach people.

Okay...okay, I can take a hint people, I'm good. :) Then I go to my sister's baby shower where a cousin, and a handful of Aunts think my eye makeup looks awesome.

IDEA! Let's create a channel! But first...I need a camera...

Flash forward to May, NEW PHONE! This phone is so awesome, I have almost as good a camera on it as if I would buy an actual camera (although, my goal is still to buy one). And I'm loving this thing.

Enough with the blabber on tech! I've now done a handful and a half of videos and just...blown away by everything! I can't believe that I could love doing something so much! I don't mind hard work, or doing work in general...but this feels more like play. Words do NOT begin to describe!

So, now my creative side kicks in...Okay, Jen...outside of just doing eye makeup looks, or just a makeup channel...since it is a beauty channel...why not expand this a little? Makeup can only do so much to make you feel beautiful...so why not bring that in? I've been on this journey for so long with myself, why not bring that to it. Because my gym/work out person in charge/trainer asked...What does this have to do with makeup?

Everything! It's a beauty channel! I know, for me at least, that...after working out, I feel good. It gives me some good self esteem, makes me happy, and give me some confidence. When that's all rolled in together, it make sense to do stuff like this. Why? Because I feel beautiful! Both inside and out. -This always seems to click to people once I word it like this-

And after having chats with my sister...I realized...I don't just want to be like most people. Yes, eat healthy, work out...blah blah blah. Wash, rinse, repeat. Okay, why not add in...other things. Like, tattoos. I think those are beauty! I mean, hello...who doesn't think Kat Von D is hot!? Ha ha.

No, in all seriousness...I don't think that we should limit the idea of beauty to just a small group of things. Why not expand the horizon? The sky is limitless (even though there is an ozone)! I want to show people what makes me, not only me, but makes me love me...what makes me feel beautiful!

Okay, I think this is long enough...so there. This is what I'm about: Beauty, and all things equal! ;)
